Being the capital city of an ancient country like Iran 5 times in the history has made Isfahan a culturally and historically rich city where people form different countries and culture used to visit and live in it peacefully. During Safavid era (1500-1722) (last time as the capital) Isfahan developed and grew faster specially in architecture and art.Now when you visit the city you can see many historical sites remained from this era and other eras dating deeply back in the history.During Safavid era Shia (a bracnh of islam) was selected as Iran’s official religion.Therefore,many minorities preferred to convert to this religion but yet In Isfahan you can still see a variety of minorities including Sonnies (a branch of Islam),Christians or even Jews living peacefully together and sharing an astonishingly beautiful history which they all had a great contribution in i’ts formation.
Isfahan seems like a very green city at first glance because almost at every corner of the city there is big green zone or parks maintained very nicely and decorated with flowers and plants.Therefore,many tourists say that it looks like European cities.A river called Zayandeh roud crosses Isfahan dividing it into northern and southern part and all along the river bank there are green zones at some places 4 times as wide as the river itself,as a result of this green areas,Isfahan has got a mini climate.Besides,there is a mountain park nearby the city where you can have short hike and enjoy the view of the city from the summit of Soffeh mount.
